Do Some Magic With Your Wand: Penis Play and Wand Vibrators
Share
Over the past thirty years or so, the wand vibrator has become an icon of sexual liberation — especially in the form of the classic Magic Wand vibe, born back in 1968. Originally marketed as a “body massager,” its other uses became quickly known and appreciated, and it quickly became known as technology’s gift to pussies.
But if you’ve got a dick, you don’t have to be left out of the fun. Wand vibes are highly underrated in their potential as cock toys, whether you’re just wanting to get off by yourself or incorporate it into a forced orgasm bondage scene.
The Underrated Complexity of Cocks
Before we go into the sex toys themselves, let’s take a moment to appreciate penises themselves. Our culture simultaneously obsesses over dicks and underappreciates how intricate and individual they are.
By default, both porn and general popular culture depict penises as almost laughably simple: A shaft of flesh that should get instantly and permanently hard, then go straight into the orifice of choice: pussy, ass, mouth, or whatever.
But dicks are so much more; they vary by size, shape, angle of erection, and sensitivity. What feels good to one person is going to be uncomfortable to another, or just leave them completely unresponsive. This applies whether you’re playing by yourself or with another person, so take some time to explore what feels best, especially if you’re with a new partner.
An Incompleat Guide to Penis Anatomy
As noted before, dicks aren’t just big, stiff rods of flesh. So here’s a quick — and definitely incomplete — look at basic anatomy of the dick and the surrounding area.

At the tip is the glans, otherwise known as the head. If you’re uncircumcised, this is the part that’s mostly covered by the foreskin while flaccid.
The sensitivity of the glans varies between individuals, and there is an everlasting debate over whether circumcision affects sensitivity. A 2020 review of 94 publications on the topic concluded that “the consensus of the highest quality literature is that MC has minimal or no adverse effect” on sexual pleasure. The debate is probably going to continue to rage however.
Either way, the glans is a great place to try stimulation, whether with your mouth, fingers, or a vibrator. On the underside of the glans is the frenulum, another spot that’s often a great spot to start sex play. Again, the frenulum will look different on circumcised and uncircumcised penises; it’s the piece of tissue that anchors the foreskin to the glans. Circumcision will generally remove it at least partially, but on some people it’s still sensitive even if it’s been cut. There’s another frenulum connecting your tongue to the bottom of your mouth, so you can easily get an idea of what an intact one looks like.

The shaft of course, gets all the hot press. It’s the part that extends from the person’s body to the head of the cock. Erections depend on two masses of spongy tissue within the shaft that fill with blood during arousal called the corpus cavernosa. Cock rings work by compressing the corpus cavernosa in such a way that blood can enter and fill them, but is much slower to flow out into the body.
Another mass of spongy tissue called the Corpus spongiosum runs along the bottom of the cock, surrounding the urethra and keeping it from getting pinched closed when the corpus cavernosa are filled with blood, so that the owner of the dick in question can still ejaculate.
None of this even touches on the testicles and scrotum, or the perineum, all of which are equally complex and worth exploring. But right now, we’re talking about the dick proper.
Vibrating Your Wand With a Wand…
Now that we’re done with the basic anatomy, we can get down to the fun stuff. If the cock in question belongs to you, think about what you like to do, and what parts feel best. Maybe think about that the next time you’re jacking off. Just as with everything else, everyone does it a little differently.
Although vibrators have traditionally been associated with pussy play, they can feel great on your cock. The best proof of this is that within the last 15 years or so, the selection of cock vibrators has grown bigger and more sophisticated.
One of the easiest ways to use a wand vibrator on a cock is to slip an attachment over the head. We carry the Viberite Hammerhead Attachment, which is specifically made for cock play; it slips over the head and shaft, conducting the vibrations right to where they do the most good.

However, there are many attachments, and even those that weren’t originally designed for penis play can turn out to be very enjoyable. It’s all up to your desires and your imagination. The Double Agent attachment is usually thought of as being for stimulating the clit, but it’s also great for hitting the perineum, the sensitive spot right behind the scrotum and in front of the anus. In fact, it generally works well whenever you want to focus the full force of the vibrator on a single small spot. Try dragging it slowly along the underside of your shaft — especially if stimulating the frenulum makes you hot.
There are lots of attachments for wand vibes available, and with a good combination of imagination and horniness, you and your partner can find lots of things to do with them, no matter what kind of equipment you have. But really, you don’t need attachments to give your cock a good, strong shiver with a wand. You just need to know your cock and what it likes.
That last part is especially important: When starting with a wand vibe, you want to think carefully about what you like and how intense you want your action. Because wand vibes are known (and loved) for their extreme power, it’s best to choose one that can be easily adjusted to your preferred level of stimulation.

The classic Magic Wand has two speeds — formally labelled “1” and “2,” they could also be described as “Oh, fuck,” and “Oh, FUCK!” The more recent Magic Wand Plus has a full four speeds.
At the risk of bragging, our own KinkLab Viberite Wand has seven speeds, allowing for some finesse in experimenting with bringing some genuine magic to your cock.
If you don’t already have a wand vibrator hanging around your home or dungeon, we recommend taking a long, slow stroll through all the models in our Wand Vibrators section. There are a lot of options there, and you might find that a few inspire you.
