Wand vibrators are popular for one very good reason:Â Nothing can match their power, at least not until you start trying out saddle vibes like the Cowgirl Sex Machine, and those are in a class by themselves. The classic Magic Wand was built to send vibration deep into muscles, and thousands of users will testify that it does exactly that.
But all that power comes with one drawback: Those suckers are heavy. The Magic Wand weighs in at about 1.2 pounds. Le Wand, another favorite in our inventory, tops the field at 3.14 pounds. Our own rechargeable wand, the VibeRite, is one of the lightest full-size wand vibrators at just under a pound. (13.6 ounces)
A pound or three isn’t that heavy if you’re just picking your vibe up off the bed to put in the toybox. But holding and maneuvering that weight, especially with all that vibration pounding through your body, can get very tiring very quick. I’m willing to bet that more than a few people reading this can remember the ache in their forearm, or just wanting to do something else with their hands while still letting the vibe do its thing.
If you’re nodding along to that, you can understand why the Stockroom’s designed the Wand Thigh Harness: If you can just strap the vibe to the inside of your thigh and let it go, you get the power and the convenience.

But for some of us, the Wand Thigh Harness is more than just convenient. I’m talking specifically here about the role it can play for disabled folks getting their freak on.
My partner became partially paralyzed from a stroke over 15 years ago. In addition to limited movement on the left side of her body, there’s a number of knock-on effects, such as repetitive strain in the unaffected arm and hand, and chronic pain.
What this means with regard to the Magic Wand and vibes like it is that the weight is far too much for her unaffected hand to hold and maintain constant pressure. Therefore, our wand has mostly stayed in the drawer in favor of other, more modern (and lighter) vibes.
When you’ve gone a long time without using a classic wand or its descendents, it’s easy to forget why they’ve stayed such a favorite through decades of new tech and kink philosophies. So when the workshop came out with the new thigh harness, my lewd little heart jumped for joy.
The ergonomics of the harness are good and simple: two velcro-lined straps go around the wand, through some loops, and hold on. The straps that hold the entire assembly to the thigh use plastic quick side-release buckles to fasten in place. The most involved part is just adjusting the straps to the wearer’s particular body and comfort.
Unfortunately, neither of those things can be done with one hand, so in our house at least, the Magic Wand remains a couples toy. But even so, it opens up a lot of possibilities. With her leg bearing most of the vibrator’s weight, my partner can nudge the head to where it feels best at any time or ease it back a little, or change the speed. It may not make it a solo toy, but it does bring back some autonomy, while allowing more freedom for hands and mouths to play elsewhere.
Kink Applications
If you have a thing for forced orgasm, you’ve probably already gotten a few ideas. Rope harnesses using a wand vibrator to drive a sub over the edge are gorgeous visually and fun to make. But Stockroom’s Wand Thigh Harness provides the option of getting the same effect just as securely with a little less fuss.
Any shibari fan will tell you that the wait, the careful construction of a rope harness is part of the pleasure. But if you’re aching to get a submissive to the main event, the ease of applying this harness is a great way to cut to the chase.
